Good Day! I’m Adrien Cardon from University Catholic de Lille, France and I’m conducting a study about the working environment in the Philippines—specifically gender equality in the workplace. I hope you take the time to answer my survey honestly, and I thank you in advance for answering this. Thank you!

Can you introduce your company?

ClickTheCity.com is a lifestyle and entertainment website users can check out for movie schedules, as well as guides on films, TV, food, travel, and more.

What are the differences in wages (origin, nature of jobs, etc.) between men and women in the global and equal categories?

I don’t have much knowledge on how equal the wages between men and women here in the Philippines, but I’ve read that in the Western entertainment industry, there are instances that men are paid higher than women, even if the leads in a certain show/film are women (e.g. Claire Foy and Matt Smith in The Crown). I think there are still a lot of other factors that go there though, since producers would still have to consider the experience of the actors.

Here in the Philippines, I think the majority of the jobs are already inclusive for all genders. However, there are still some people who think that this job is only for this gender, and that job is only for that gender. Still, though, I think there are a lot of people who break the stereotype and that’s always amazing.

What are the career paths and career opportunities at ClickTheCity.com as a woman?

I don’t think gender is a big issue here at ClickTheCity. I feel like as long as one has the qualifications, and they’re able to do the tasks at hand, then they would definitely get the position.

How is the reconciliation of private life - professional life? Have working time arrangements been put in place for parents, for example?

It’s been easy for me. Here, we work from 8:30AM to 5:30PM, and since I function better early in the day, I get to finish more work. Clocking out by 5:30PM also works well for me because 1) I live far from Makati; and 2) I have the time after work to meet and hang out with friends, so everything’s comfortable.

My parents are okay with the working time as well, and when I have events which end later at night, they definitely understand.

Do the regulations of the Philippines (different from those in France) have changed the way you act about the environment and gender equality?

I’ve always been for gender equality no matter where it’s applied, so I can say that my actions didn’t really change. I’m just glad that more people are out there, breaking stereotypes and showing others that one job isn’t limiting to just a specific gender. It’s a long process, but we’re definitely getting there!
